2003/2004. “FIDELIO”.

PRODUCTION: TEATRO DEL MAGGIO MUSICALE FIORENTINO
DIRECTED BY: ROBERT CARSEN
Breathtaking production of Ludwig Van Beethoven’s “SingSpiel”, directed by one of the most acclaimed Opera director on the Word-Wide scene, Robert Carsen.

“The Opera was staged in an imaginary concentration camp, and Mr. Carsen used also “sensory stimulations” to render that in the most effective way for the audience. The stage was dirty and dusty for real, crystallized in a colour between grey and dark blue. And, to depict the uncomfortable conditions of the prisoners… I was one of them, of course… Well, our costumes were real uniforms wore by the prisoners of the infamous “LaCayenne” Penitentiary in French Guiana… A one-of-a-kind experience and a big hit too!”
